225/55-17 Tires ?

Will these look ok on our Car ? I don't want to go lower profile...and the 55s will acutally raise it up just a Tad, correct ?

Opinions ?

You really don't want to mess with the rolling diameter of the tire. You can go up or down in size as long as you stay within a close tolerance of the diameter. Going to a 222/55 will increase the rolling diameter by over 1 1/4". That will throw things way out of wack (speedometer, braking, gas mileage, etc.)

215/50-17 = 25.46
225/55-17 = 26.74

IMHO - don't do it.

ONLY these should go on the Type-S, 17":

215/50-17
225/45-17
235/45-17

Will you get any tire rubbing with the 225 or 235/45? Wouldn't the wheel well gap increase with these sizes?

Let me know.

If you want to go wider, you're going to have to lower the profile. No way around it.

Just because you go to a lower profile tire doesn't always mean the sidewall is going to be smaller (if you keep the same rim size). It's just an aspect ratio to the width of the tire. If you go to a 235/45-17 vs. a 215/50-17, the sidewall will be virtually identical in height.

What's a good site to get the Actual Tire Size Diameter for measurements / Specs ?

Thanks !

But according to this Calculator, I can't win with either a 225/50-17 ( too slow-less revolutions, a little more diameter) to 225/45-17s Too Fast Less Diameter

215/50-17- 25.464
225/45-17- 24.972 diff of .492 from Stock
225/50-17- 25.858 diff of +.392 from Stock

Either will mess with the Speedo

according to this chart

Has anyone tried a 235/40/17? I would like to have a smaller diameter, so my gearing will be a little faster.

Wouldn't you creat a bigger gap between the fender and tire when you use a tire size of 225/45/17 or even 235/45/17? what about tire rubbing when turning?

Let me know

BTW to the original post. You will end throwing off the speedometer reading and affecting your gas mileage.

True, but everything up or down from stock is going to throw it a little slower or a little faster ! Take your pick

i'm sure the cl-p uses the same speedo gear and is probably slightly off of the cl-s's (or is the cl-s off from the cl-p's?).
