225/45-18 v.s. 225/40-18

Well ist not really a v.s. match. I just wanna know will i feel a diffrence running a 45 instead of a 40, as in hp loss/ more rotational mass/ weight?
Thanks

235-40-18 is closest to stock diamater for a CLS.

However for those sizes if it's the same tire brand/model, then the 45 would be heavier, & have more mass. Would you really feel a difference.... likely no.

You'd have to compare the same tires since they vary in weight.

The stockers are 215/50 17
Will the 225/45 18 make the car taller?

Not really, but it will appear so because you will have more wheel gap due to the smaller ratio of 45 compared to 50.

225-45-18 are less than 2% bigger than stock - less than 0.5 inches taller. When doing plus sizing less than 2% is acceptable.

No, you'll be fine and have the added protection of the additional sidewall.
