20 x 8.5 on an 02 Cl what offse?
Whats up everyone im new to the board I just picked up an 02 tan Cl wit 32,000 miles, its pretty mint, i used to have an 02 white maxima se which was sweet but shyt happens and this is now my new whip. anyway im located in south florida and my question is, i wanna put 20's on it and eventually i wanna drop it maybe a few months after the 20s question is the rims i want i can either get an +45 or a +35 offset the width is 8.5 i defintly want no rubbin any suggestion on the offset and tire package and drop. let me know, thanks, oh yeah these are the rim sizes.
20 x 8.5 5 x 114.3 8 74.1 +35 6.13"
20 x 8.5 5 x 114.3 8 74.1 +45 6.53"
20 x 8.5 5 x 114.3 8 74.1 +35 6.13"
20 x 8.5 5 x 114.3 8 74.1 +45 6.53"

Either will fit untill you drop it. When you drop it you will want the +45. However with an 8.5" rim you'll need to roll the fenders & may have other fitment problems. Normal tire size to keep the OD spec would be 235-35-20, but you'll likely only be able to fit 225-35-20. You may be ok, each car is a little different.
IMHO you should look into other rim sizes/offsets. Something in the +48-+55 range & only 8" wide.

Damn dude; +45 offset on 8.5" wheels?
I'm running 7.5" wheels with +45 offset and was rubbing while dropped on Teins. I have shaved fenders too; I'm going to say +55 would be the way to go.

Please stop the madness people.
20 x 8.5 +45 will rub like a mutha. It will stick out 1.14" more than the stock setup. Go outside and measure about and inch and a quarter out from the front edge of the tire. See where that ends up? Exactly, it's not gonna fit without major modification to the wheel wells.
Here are the specs on the new wheel:
Inner Clearance: 9mm LESS (the inside of the wheel to the strut housing)
Outer Position: EXTEND an extra 29mm (position of the outside edge of the wheel)
The bottom line is an 8.5" wide wheel will not fit on a CL or TL without an extremely high offset and even then it might rub on the inner suspension components.
Look for an 8" wide wheel with a +50 offset and you'll be good to go.

it's not. +42 on a 7.5" rim is the minimum. +42 on an 8.5" rim will stick out over 1.5"

Unless you mess with your fenders, they will not fit. I had 19x8 wheels with a +45 offset and they never rubbed until I dropped really low.
I would suggest staying away from 20's, but if you have to get them, make sure they are 20x8's if you can find them, and the offset is at least +50.

if you want your car to look terrible these would be the wheels to go with. They're going to stick out way past the fenders and it will def. be noticeable. On top of that, having 20" wheels and not dropping the car makes it look even worse.
