I was up in Wisc. this weekend, and it snowed 4-5 in. I cleaned off my windshield with a brush and there was only a little snow left by the wiper. It was snowing a decent amount.
They were working fine and then they would pause for a second about 6 inches from the rest position, and then they just stopped working. I Tried shutting off my car and restarting it, and even checked the fuse, but everything was ok.
I got snowed in so I waited until the next day to try them again and they worked fine. I assume that if the wiper have too much friction they just stop? Or is the motor starting to go? I just don't want to be caught on the expressway and have them not work.

I guess I am just worried if there is a heavy snow, and I'm driving in it and my wipers stop working. I wasn't sure if this has happened to anyone else.

ive only had problems with them when i irst turn them on after some snow has come down.
make sure you get all the snow out from underneath the arms, before you use the wipers.

What happened was all the snow caused the wiper motor to be overloaded (high amps from mechanical resistance) so the circuit breaker opens the circuit. The circuit breakers found on circuits that tend to overload such as power seats and wiper motors are cycling breakers. They self reset, unlike the breakers at your house.
Always clean all the snow and ice before you use your wipers or windows.
