Exclamation Transmission: Shifts not smooth

I have a 01 cl-s with a replaced tranny. It doesnt happen all the time but quite often i can really feel the shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear, there is little jerk esp when i'm giving it some gas. while other shifts are relatively smooth. signal of major transmission problem ??
in addition i sometimes fell the whole car shaking esp the front end. its not the steering wheel shake due to brakes or mis-alignment, it's more like the car getting shivers. i normally keep the car in d5 and rarely use SS.

i'm kinda worried, please guide me here.

yea..my 01 CLS is a little herky-jerky as well. My original tranny and the new one ,same thing. These cars just seem to lack the refinment you would expect from an acura. I really notice it coasting down hill, it holds shift then shifts harder, almost feels like I'm pumping the brakes.

My car does not behave like yours. I think yours have something needing attention.

Are you noticing these shifts while the engine is cold. When the engine is cold, the engine shifts harder and you feel it, I notice it quite alot. Apart from that, you might also feel the hard shifts depending on your elevation (i.e. going down/up a hill) as previously mentioned. If thats not the case, is your maintenance up to check, maybe you just need a tune up. There is no really no way of figuring out the transmission is about to go until you get the lights of death and your tranny downshifts to 2nd gear.

Thats a tranny going bad. When she gets warm it does not lock up on 3rd gear. You can feel a little slip and than... bang- engage. Just let off your foot of the acceleration pedal and let it engage, you ll exted life of your tranny a liitle bit, but do not expect it to be too long.

The harder shifts you feel when you start off driving in the morning is to quicken the warming up process of the transmission. When you are coasting down a hill, the trans will shift into a lower gear to aid in braking. These are normal trans functions for the auto CLs.

that's NOT normal

when it's colder it should do the following

1. wait to shift (rpms are higher before shifting)
2. slightly longer shift times between gears
3. not lockup the torque converter
4. not shift into 5th gear as early as it does when it is warm
5. slight harder shift, bit not bone jarring.....

if your shifting is taking longer than about .5 sec between gears even when cold, the trans is toast..........

i put up with my trans acting nuts from when I bought the car with 40K on it until 70K when IT FINALLY DECIDED TO TOSS A CODE.......

What I meant was firmer shifts not those hard "you know something not right" shifts. Normal cold shifts are firmer and delayed......

If it's the just the 2-3 shift that's hard, it might be the linear solenoid that's failing.

Then again, all of the Honda V6s that I've driven or been in have had a rather harsh 2-3, so depending on how bad it is, it might be normal.
