transmission replacement cost

hi everybody
I am new here
I have a problem with my 2002 acura cl type s
it has 136k miles
when i bought it, it had 128k miles
at 129 check engine light came on
at about 130k I started feeling hesitation when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear
at 136k miles hesitation was gone
but when you start the car in the morning it shifts hard for a few minutes
and then its perfect again
I dont know nothing bout cars
and this is my first one actually
a friend of mine told it could be cause of the trans oil
but its been changed at 129
I love this car and I wanna keep it
how much will it be to replace the tranny and shall I do it all?
what do you ppl think?
thanks

From: The grande.. Riverdale NJ.. Hopefully moving to skyline village in Lincoln park NJ..yes dirty jersey
Go to www.ATRA.com and search rebuilders in your area..
The acura DLR quoted my $4100 + tax I got a rebuilder to do it with upgraded clutch packs , upgraded torque converter and sonnax end plugs, haynes ATF cooler and Amsoil synthetic ATF for $3000 + tax with 36/36 warrenty.. Make sure you get a price on tranny and torque converter cuz places will low ball you and when they take it apart tell u it will be a couple grand more cuz it needs everything and then when you dont want them to do it they will charge you 1 k just to put it back together its AAMCO's specialty!
I could have got it for $2,300 but with 12/12 warrenty and shotty work..
Call around and ask questions like how familiar they are with the trans and worste case scenario with TQ?

do nothing .... just drive and pray. as you've probably already noticed, automatic transmissions in our cars are shot. Almost everone here went thru transmission nightmare - sometimes twice or more. Read the topic dedicated to trany recal and you will find all the answers there. Cost of replacement varies from 2k @ home grown rebuilder to 4+k @ stealership

That sucks man. I have 97k on my car and I feel the tranny slipping from 2nd to 3rd too. I heard that it could be the timing belt slipping also. I'm almost @100k so i could see where that makes sense.

99000 miles, under warranty

Check with your dealer, the waranty was extended to like 109000 miles.

If the timing belt "slips" the motor bangs the valves into the pistons and quits.
