Thank God for warranties
hey all. im new to the community. i'd like to say hey to all my new friends here. well, my story is this. i jus bought a 01 cl and only made two payments on the car. my son was sick one day and i had to rush him to the hospital. now i was reading on the forums that they have a history of bad trannies. that wasnt my concern at the time, i was doggin the mess out of my car. as soon as i got off the highway, it wouldnt shit out of first. "oh well", as long as my son is good, the tranny is replaceable, my son isnt. miraculously, wen we left the e.r., the tranny was performing perfectly. until one day i was backing out of a local walmart, i put it in drive and it seemed like the engine was gonna jump out my hood. frustrating. so i took it to the shop and thank goodness ipurchased the warranty. it would have cost me $5089 out my pocket for the tranny and a new throttle body cause the sensor was messed up. but overall, i still love the car. the cl is an amazing vehicle, wit a terrible tranny...

I had an issue also with the tranny not shifting out of gears. It would basically cruize down the highway at 4000 or 4500 rpm.. very nice..
they replaced the tranny, and it occured again.
Turned out, it was a bad throttle position sensor, and the car 'thought' i was hard on the gas, and that's why it was keeping a lower gear.

My 2001 CLS is in the shop today for a tranny replacement. Initial signs were the 2-3 gear revving and a harsh shift. I had about 123,000 km (76,000 miles) when it started to die. Also had the oil jet kit installed.
I was told by the Acura service guy that there is no warranty on the replacement transmission. Is that true?
