Sunroof Rattle

I saw somewhere on here, I believe, that there is a notorious rattle generating in the sunroof area. What exactly causes it? A loose bolt? I have this annoying rattle only when the sunroof is closed but the shade is open. Any ideas?

Any idea on how to fix it? Do I need to drop the headliner? It annoys the hell out of me.

on either side there are plastic covers. removing the plastic cover will reveal 2 10mm bolts on either side. I think the solution maybe there. I need to retighten mine.

Plastic cover, you mean on the sunroof itself or on the headliner?

Join the club. I've got an annoying rattle from the gauge cluster area every time I hit a big bump. And now that its cold out it amplifys everything.

Every car I've owned has had a sunroof and one thing I've noticed is that it really helps to keep the rubber gasket seal around the glass clean and to lightly apply some petrolium jelly (vaseline) around it from time to time. That prevents the seal from drying out too much. Same goes for door seals. Sometimes the these don't make good contact w/ the body and make noise w/ normal road vibrations.

I don't think that silicon or vaseline or whatever is going to help...The sound itself comes from somwhere where that plastic is...or maybe it is the plastic...it sounds that I'm having the same problem as you guys and really PISSSSSSSEEESSSS ME OFFFFFFFF((
So please someone come up with smth...
