SRS light is on. Why??
SRS Light on
That just happened to me while I purchased my 01 CL-S from my boyfriend, the SRS light was on and I was getting the car certified, but Acura would not certify w/out that light being off. They told me I needed to replace the sensors..costing me $1000!! No way was I going to accept that 2 sensors in the passenger seat just decided to go bad. Makes me so mad they tried to screw me over!
So I did some research and found that electronics like a cell phone or laptop will trip the light.
So I found directions on how to reset the light and 5 mins later the light was off and I was able to get it certified. WHOOO! Try it!
If it doesn't work, then it may be a real prob.
How To Reset SRS Light w/o Dealership
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To reset the SRS light, here are the cliff notes -
1. bend a paper clip into a 'U' shape to create a loop
2. disconnect the yellow plug in your fuse box under the steering wheel and insert the paperclip into the plug that is now hanging there to complete the circuit
3. turn the ignition on and the SRS light will stay on for 6 seconds, then go off - disconnect the paperclip within 4 seconds after that and the light will come back on
4. reconnect the paperclip within 4 seconds and the SRS light will go off again
5. within another 4 seconds of it going off, disconnect the paperclip and the light will blink twice and it will be done
If you don't get it the first time....repeat steps 1-5 again until the SRS light goes off, this saves you a money and time. Good Luck!

Thank you inbluedesign. I will give it a try and report back.
One question, is the yellow plug in the fuse box under the steering wheel or on the side of the dash? I'm not sure what you mean about "under the steering wheel".

Maybe you can do me another favor.
I have asked on the forum if someone can take a measurement of a stock CL-S of the ride height. You know from the ground to the wheel well (top of the fender opening) on the front and rear fenders. I forgot to measure mine before installing the lowering kit. Now I dont know how low I went so I dont know what camber kit to get. So far no one seem to be able to help me so I havent been able to order my kit. Unless yours is lowered.
I dont want you to have go out in the rain or snow to do it but if its convenient.
Let me know.
Thanks

I got the same problem
I got the same problem and tried your recommendations but the light never went off. Last year it happened but the car was under the warranty and the dealer fix it with out cost. About 3 months ago when it happens again they told they had to replace something and it will cost me more than $500 and I didn't repaired.
Should I keep trying the steps or it is someting different

I don't know. I would try it again, but if it doesn't work then it could be a real problem.
If it IS a real problem, then obviously it's very unsafe as the airbags will not work properly in an accident!

Did the light reset? I found the info that inbluedesign gave me in my acura sevice manual. If the light resets and then you plug the yellow connector back in and the light comes back on there is most likely a problem. If it never reset then I would try again following inbluedesigns instructions carefully.

I measured the wheelwells for you, ground to the wheelwell...
it seems I may have had it on SLIGHTLY unlevel ground.. only because one side of the rear wheels said 27 3/4 and the other said 27 1/4. Fronts were about the same. I'd say between 27 and 28 is your measurment.
Hope that helps.

I WILL NOT BEND OVER FOR THE DEALERSHIP.
This problem started for me a couple of weeks ago. I have an 02 CL-S with 60k miles. I took my car to Gillman Acura in Houston, TX. The tech said it was a burnt out SRS switch. And they want $300 to fix. The part is only $75.
So far I have tried unplugging the car battery for 30 mins to let the ECU reset, but this didn't help any. The SRS light was still on when I turned the engine on later. I have also checked the SRS fuses in the fusebox on the side below the steering wheel. They where both ok.
I have not tried inbluedesign's method yet, as I couldn't figure out which yellow wire/plug it was. There were like 3 yellow wires If I recall correctly.
I was thinking of ordering the part and doing this fix myself.
Does anyone on here know where the SRS switch is located?
Thank you guys for your help.

If you look under the dash to the left of the steering colum close to the door you will see two yellow plugs.
One is big and one is small and up a little higher, thats the one you want (small one) to unplug and do inbluedesign's fix.
