Cl-s
Hello Everyone! I just joined, first post. Bought my 03 CL-S about 2 weeks ago. I have this problem with the SRS light, and I found out two things. Yes, the 03 CL is covered under warranty with the following limitations: It's only covered if the parts are throwing error messages, and the dealership is going to charge $80-$105 to run diagnostic's to see if it is or not. I went out and bought a ELM scanner for OBDII system, and I'm not getting the required codes. So I found a method for clearing the light (use it if your light comes on after replacing your battery.) If it doesn't work, then you probably have a problem with the SRS system. Here's the Link - http://www.geocities.com/myintegra96/srs.html
I haven't tried it yet, I'll let ya'll know what happens

If the SRS light stays on while you are moving, the airbags will NOT deploy in a crash!
As long as the light stays off, you're ok. Once it stays on after the normal self test, it's letting you know that the airbags are not going to deploy in an accident.
IOW, if you have an intermittent, and can reset the unit, it will function as long as the SRS light stays OFF while you’re driving.

Had my SRS light come on. Setup an appointment and got a loaner.
Took them about 4 business days (backorder on part/needed a new belt buckle) but, got it back without paying a penny out of my pocket. The tsx loaner was nice as well.

Had my timing belt replaced a few weeks ago at my mechanics and had to disconnect my battery in the process. Now my SRS light is on and it wasn't on before. Do you guys know if the SRS light warranty would cover this issue as well and does it apply in Canada? Also if the light is on, does the airbags still work??

My SRS light went on today so I searched and tried the reset procedure and no go. So I took a copy of the opening post here to Thousand Oaks Acura and showed it to the service manager. Anyway the bill turned out to be $44 for the drivers seat belt buckle and $77 labor for a total of $121. But it was covered under the extended warranty so cost to me was zip. And they did it in two hours including a car wash and vacuum. Thanks for this helpful sticky.

Same issue:)
Yeah, this SRS light is allready killing me!!!!! It started appearing maybe 6 mnths ago...however I found out how to reset it and get rid of it..here on acurazine...however now this light is coming on every day allready And the resetting technique is useless...so thanks to you guys I found about this warranty extension and I will not have to bother with getting the money for repairs By the way I bought this 2003 Acura 3.2 CL used , is this gonna make me any problems at dealerships...? oh yeah, Canada, Toronto by the way))))

sooo....I went today to Acura Downtown Toronto....they took the car...they checked it...it wasn't the OPTD sensor, or whaterver it is called...it was just the sensor in the seat belt...which is not covered by warranty..so they charged me 125$ for diagnostic and 80 $ for the seatbelt sensor that I will change myself couse they are asking 220$ for instalation!!! Anyway...I hope the SRS light will not come on again...EVER I'll tell you guys how I changed it later

so i changed the seatbelt rather easy...just unplug the battery...wait 5 min...unscrew the seat , put it on the side so you can reach the screws from the lower part of the seatbelt system and than is just common sense and guess what!? MY SRS IS OFFFFF")))) Yeah baby

Well, I have 68k miles on my car, I haven't had anything done to it lately. Just today the SRS red light came on and won't go away.
I will ask the dealership about the sensor warranty extension, but my main question is someone on this thread said they got the seat buckle done for free under warranty since seat buckle is lifetime warranty. Others are saying they have to pay full price. Should the seat belt buckle sensor replacement be free?

yea man, you can take it to any acura dealer. I'd say, in your case... look for the most run-down, sketchy (with drug dealers outside) looking place, and ask them. They should be able to take GOOD care of you

2001 CL Type S. SRS light has been on for couple of months. I dread taking it to the dealer because they're blood sucking vampires not to mention the incessant lying. The engine light has been on for more than 2 years but less than 3. I looked up the code with a loaner scanner from AutoZone which showed it was the thermostat, however the car has no problem heating or cooling - however the gas mileage has been poor. The coolant has not been changed since I bought the car new from the Accura dealer in Downey, CA. I will admit Downey Accura treated me fair but the current one is a dealership from hell. Last time I was there for an oil change, they wanted to charge $700 for repairs that I was so pissed I don't even remember what they said. I told them I would bring it in first thing next Monday.
This is a great post and I enjoyed reading experiences of fellow Accura CL owners. Overall I think CL Type-S is a good car with good mid-range power, a bit sluggish steering, too wide a turn radius but other than that it offers good value for the money.
I will report back what turns up with the SRS light.

Yep, just made my appt. and they said they'll have to run a diagnostic to check to see if anything that deals with the OPDS system and/or seatbelt sensors are at fault. If so they'll replace all for free and waive the $95 + tax diagnostic fee, but if its something else thats causing the problem then I'm responsible for the $95 + tax diagnostic fee so we'll se how it goes on Thurs...

Hello all, My SRS light just came on last week, and this thread was very helpful. I took it in to Acura today and it actually was the drivers seat belt, which was under warranty. My out of pocket, $0, finally a good day at the dealer! lol
