smelled like something being solder. then i noticed smoke coming from the steering column. the past two months, while driving, my car has turned off several times. luckily i was going straight and it started up again. also, my dash lights would come on and off too. anyone have these problems?

 

I haven't heard of it. Seems something is shorting out or has shorted out along the steering column. May want to get under the dash with a light & see if there are any wires exposed or burnt.

 

it was a bad ignition switch. $70 for the part. that's what made the car die.

 

Personally, I would stop using shrooms.. Its probably the only way
