Side rear view mirror problem

Hello guys, I have been searching without any luck... hope somebody can help. The passenger side rear view mirror all of a sudden stopped adjusting downward when in reverse. It moves if I press the control (meaning motor and fuse are all right, I believe) I sometimes flip in the mirrors when parked in crowded areas and I could have shifted into reverse with the mirror folded in... could that have been the problem? is there a switch to enable/disable this function? or a special fuse? programing procedure? Any help would be really appreciated. I have a 01 CLS. Many thanks in advance, PANAMARED (Roger)

The right/left switch to adjust the mirror must be in the center position for that function to work.
