Screwy electronics, need help with power seat and mirror

Hey guys, a couple of days ago I had some bags of clothes in the back seat of my car and I pushed the seat to go back and it did its safety routine and went all the way up and stopped. When I pulled all of the bags out and tried to retract the seat back it was just stuck, no movement and no noise besides the sound of tje switch relay going. Upon further inspection I found the fuse was blown so as soon as I try to replace it it blows instantly, today I noticed going in reverse the passenger mirror didn't tilt down so I try to move passenger and driver mirrors only to find them completely inoperable. So my guess is that fuse is blown too. Any ideas on what the hell is goibg on with my car and where I should even begin to look for shorts or problems?

Power seats not working

I am having the same problem with both my power seats. First the passenger seat stopped reclining back and just recently the driver side is having the same problem.

Any one out know what is going on?

My quick fix for getting the the front to back of the seat to work is to press the button in the recline position and rock back and forth until it moves but dont go crazy

Secondly you will probably have to grease the gears of the seat

White lithium grease works. Usually comes in a spray can. Just cover up the seat and carpet because it comes out fast and WILL splatter.

White lithium grease, it comes in an aerosol can. You can get it at the parts store. The brand doesnt matter.

If you pull off the plastic side cover on the seat you will see the gears.

Pretty much the same symptoms here. A major problem for me is I use a wheelchair and need to be able to recline seat to get chair in and out of vehicle.

I am a rookie with this stuff, are you saying to take the cover on the motor and spray some grease on the metal parts /gear? clean & spray the track ?

I can hear the button click to recline and have been able to free it up after moving back and forth so I am assuming it is mechanical rather than electrical problem.

If your looking at the side of the seat where the switches are, that black cover comes off. Its screwed in, I dont remember how many screws though. Its been nearly 2 years since I did mine.

The gears should be easily accessible. Clean them up, and then lube them.

I had to use a screw driver to release the gears as I didnt want to burn up the motor trying to wiggle the back of the seat back and forth.

If you need pics of it let me know. Ive got no problem taking it apart again.

i've fixed several seat reclining problems in CLs.

for the driver side, u can raise it up, the take the cover off where the switches goes (its held by two screws). Spray some wd40 in there, or the white lithium grease, or oil. leave it there for a minute. Then take a flat screw driver and start prying gears back and forth while pushing on the recliner button back and forth. eventually it will come loose and start moving slowly. I;ve always used wd40, so u'll have to keep spraying that in there and keep playing it.

for the passengerside, u'll have to remove all 4 bolts and then raise the seat up to where u can remove the cover and repeat the process.

as for the OP's problem, that sounds very weird. definitely a short some where if the fuse keeps blowing up like that. a problem like that can only be diagnosed in person.

edit: i didnt realize civic already posted most of this stuff.
