Replacing the rear-view mirror

After I got the 35% tint, the rear sight isn't good enough to drive at the night. Also the auto-tint function on the mirror has been broken a long time ago. In this time I would like to replace a new one but I couldn't find any article. There are some explanation briefly but not enough. Can I have a kind of diagram for the job or any advice?

Thanks.

I have the same problem, a dead mirror and no idea how to go about changing it. Clearly there are electrical attachments behind the headliner/overhead but its not at all clear how to remove the mirror. If anyone could explain the replacement procedure you'd have at least two grateful co-members.

As long as I remembered that, it wasn't difficult to replace. Once you remove the placsic cover of map lights, there are 2 screws and then... Sorry I don't want you to have wrong information. I found the DIY in forum, so keep trying to search.

Sorry,
Ryan.

Thanks for that bit, I think it may be all I need. When I looked closley at the overhead light fixture it occured to me that the cover would have to be pried off to change the light bulbs and that whatever held the whole thing together was probably under there.

So if I understand it correctly you removed the cover, remove the retaining screws, drop everything possible out of the way. Then find the wires and disconnect them. Next find the set screw that holds the mirror fixture to the rest of the assembly and either loosen or remove it and then pull straight down on the mirror to remove it.

If I understand it correctly that is the procedure. There are a couple of mirrors on E-Bay, they all cost around $100. I also need to pick up a mirror for the passenger side and need to find a heated articulated one, also available on E-bay at about the same price. Just waiting for one to show up in my color.

Pop the plastic piece off the base of the mirror. Follow the wiring to the plug. Carefully slide the mirror of the clip on the windshield. Emphasis on carefully, you could easily break the clip on the windshield off.

I got mine out yesterday, got a new one on E-Bay for $80. As you said, pull the plastic cap/trim part off the back and expose the metal bracket. Taking advice from another post I took a screwdriver and set the blade on the bracket and then gave it a tap - more than a gentle tap, but less than a hit - with the end of a wrench and it popped the mirror loose. Then I just slid the mirror forward to remove it.
