Replacing Ball Joints Got a few ???'s
So my front end squeaks when I turn my steering wheel going low speeds and while the car is parked. I took it to a shop and they told me it was the ball joints and that Acura would supply ball joint and (knuckle?) for $500 each. Looked on the net and found some for $30 on the link below but it does not say anything about a knuckle (not sure if this is right). Is this a good replacement joint and will it have an effect if I am lowering my car? And what the hell is a knuckle? Will I need to replace that as well?
My knowledge is lacking somewhat and I am pretty new to this. Gotta start somewhere right?

The knuckle is a $300+ part for each side. I'd be interested in understanding why the knuckle needs to be replaced. The ball joint can be removed from the knuckle and a new one installed.
Here's the knuckle

Acutron,
NSXNEXT beat me too it as I was going to show that picture too
I also would be interested too in why the knuckle would need replacement. It is certainly possible that the balljoint or some bushing component is causing the front end squeaks.
If you don't know the site for all the factory acura parts for purchasing or for looking up what detailed, individual parts look like on your car, you can go to www.acuraparts247.com and put in your "type" of car in the "Start Here" and do a search. It will help with seeing what things look like.
As far as your squeaking goes, I recommend you get some estimates on paper from several shops as to what is causing the squeaking first before doing any kind of work; you don't want to go replacing things like the "knuckle", which is not likely causing the problem. It is more likely due to perhaps the balljoint, as you've stated, or some kind of bushing component. When you get consistent answers to your problems, then you may possibly start to choose a shop and have the issue fixed.
Hope this advice helps.

the ball joint might be pressed fit and as a general rule they might replace the knuckle incase the hole for the balljoint is distorted or damaged or it might come as a whole assembly try asking the dealer they might have a better answer i havn't worked with this car long enough to know

You don't need to replace the timing belt till at least 100,000 miles. Many people have gone much farther than that. I believe a few TL owners are at 200,000 miles on the orginal timing belt and water pump.

so bringin this back from the graveyard.....been getting creaking while steering and stopping as slow speeds recently as well on my 01 cl-s at 56k miles
dealership says its the balljoints and need replacing (yea the whole thing, knuckles and all), 400$ parts each side, plus 200$ work each side, totalling 1200$
Acutron if u still come around the forums, what did u end up doing? or if anyone else had the same problem, what did they end up doing?

The knuckles shouldn't have to be replaced unless it's cracked. You'd basically have to be jumping off cliffs to break those things.
Replace the joints if you have the tools do it. Save yourself some money.

I ended up getting some Upper control arms that came with Upper ball joints in them already for like 250 - 275. Go to autocarparts.com and you should find what you are looking for under suspension. As far as installing them that was not too bad, put the car on jack stands and replaced the upper control arms. solved my issue, and put like a 2" drop on my shit.
