Rattle, only during start-up and shut-down tho...

I've gathered that this car has alot of rattles. However, I have one that is not the common sunroof/glove box/etc and I can't identify it. It very occasionally happens when turning on the engine, but more often occurs during shut-down, right as the engine finishes spooling down, just before it comes to a complete stop. It almost sounds like a loose part somewhere inside the engine or something. Only happens for a second. I've never heard it under normal idling or acceleration. Any ideas before I hit up the dealer?

It's probably the exhaust pipes underneath your car hitting the heat shield.

Could be, or bad motor mounts allowing engine play, or a loose exhaust system.

thanks for the replies guys. not a heat shield, just did headers the other day, and the exhaust was hanging perfectly. hanger was good too. can't be a motor mount, cuz i just did those as well (well, two of them anyway). it sounds like internal/external engine. i almost feel like it could be valves out of adjustment or something. but i dont think that makes sense, considering its only at shut-down.

Maybe the motor mounts..they say when the mounts are going it applies alot of pressure on the front pipe..take it to the dealer and get it looked at it real quick...can cost you alot in the long run!
