I didnt even try searching this b.c. i highly doubt this is a problem for everyone. I have a 2001 Acura CLS. I bought it used like almost 2 years ago now and im the third owner.

DOWN TO BUSINESS:
The problem is weather im driving or stationary, if i put the rear defroster on and i have the FM radio on, the radio will go to complete static. If i hit the rear defroster button to turn the defroster off, the radio will come right back. Im not sure if it does it with AM to be honest i dont think i really ever listened to AM.

Regardless does anyone have a clue of what is going on. It did it since day 1 i had it and i bought the car during the summer, so i never really thought about putting the defroster on. I have the stock set up for the radio and stuff.(no-navi) i have no electrical upgrades beside an autostart, which came with the car..but i doubt that would have anything to do with it....

haha i didnt think anyone would have heard of it...is there some sort of wire thats loose?? i need any help right now would do b.c. its getting annoying..only happens with FM, not cd or tape..theres gotta be some sort of wire loose...

 

I have the same problem in my 01 CL-S, Mine didnt do it till I had my Tint replaced though......or maybe it did i never listen to the radio though.

 

haha so we got two CLS's haha that make the problem, between the two of us, we gotta figure something out...

 

My car must have had tint on it before I bought it. The rear window had missing sections of heater element and antenna. It looked like someone took a razor blade and scraped the tint off the back windows. I complained to the dealer and made them install a new one.

On the first window the radio worked fine until I would try the defrost, then it would cut out completely. After they replaced the window, the radio works good. However, when I use the rear defrost, the radio gets a little static. This happened before and after the tint was on the window. I assume its a ground issue somewhere since the circuts are closely related. Check all the elements on the back window and look for a breakage in it. You used to be able to buy a repair kit at local auto parts stores. The ones around the philly area told me its been discontinued.
