Quick Transmission fix?
Hey guys, I am new here and browse around the forums too look at everyones rides and fixes and what not for my ride. Anyways, starting yesterday I started having an issue with my car. My car is perfectly fine for like 20 minutes after I drive around than randomly my car has trouble shifting into 2nd gear. When at a stop light I get going just driving normal and first gear revs up to about 4500 rpm and than it shifts into second gear.
And when I am in 4th gear going about 50. I floor it my car wont go past 4500-5000 rpm. I was at the dealership last week getting my oil change and they did the standard inspection and said I need to change my Transmission Fluid (Although, they never said to do a flush, just change the fluid). Which I haven't changed the fluid yet. So I am wondering if that could be the case? The car is a 2001 Acura CL-S.

What color is the fluid on the dipstick? It it fresh and pink or dirty and brownish? Does it smell burnt? You have to do the 3x3 method for the fluid. Use Honda dt-1 fluid only as it has all the right sauce in the additive package.
You might want to run your vin# to see if there are any open recalls on your car. The previous owner on mine had the tranny replaced with 33k miles on the car in 2007 at the dealership. Yes it was a warranty item, so no charge.

Is this an automatic? If so, you might be hitting the point where the transmission is wearing out. Acura had a settlement to add a oil-cooler because some of the gears were overheating and getting damaged. I had the cooler installed and transmission still went out around 105k. Acura replaced it again and I got about 100k before I had to get it rebuilt again my own and now I'm up to 256k miles.
