My odometer stopped working. I can't see how fast i am driving on the road. At first it used to go on and off but it has not come on for two months now. Took it to technicians and they still have no clue on how to fix it. Wondering if someone has a clue on what the problem is.

 

Is it the odometer or the speedometer? If your odometer is still racking up miles as you drive, then its most likely the gauge cluster. If its not, it could be the VSS (there would be a CEL for it though) or the wiring from the ECU to the cluster.

Take a look at your vehicle speed sensor. Do you have a shop manual?

 

The speed sensor is a good guess but when mine was acting up, it was causing the VSA to act funky and there was a slight lurching at intermittent times.

 

Oh yea, I keep forgetting about the Auto CLs. Plus if the VSS was giving you issues you should be getting a CEL for it.

Does the speedometer and odometer light up at all?

 

yes, the all three light up. But when it comes to the instruments themselves, It's only the middle one that doesn't function. used to go on and off but it hasn't come on for a long time now.

 

yes, i have every thing that comes with the car. Didn't see anything in the manual that could help me fix it though.
