CRAZY PROBLEM...Hopefully just the axle?
So we were driving downtown tonight when I took a left turn and then heard a big bump, then realized that when I pushed on the gas (in 1st gear) that my car just wouldn't move. Everything was working fine before, but I knew that I needed to get my axles replaced, since they were making noises with turns. I got a quote earlier the previous week to get the job done. So, the engine was working just fine and revved smoothly, but there was a grinding noise like something was detached from the axle. Anyway, I just was wonderng if things were worse then just replacing the axles (since I had the car towed to the place where I got the quote previously) any thoughts?

CV Joint most likely. Can't rule out axle, clutch or LSD though from your description.
If it's a CV or an axle - don't go playing with trying to get it moving under it's own power too much - you'll glaze your clutch and destroy the helical.
If you get the front end in the air, you should be able to spin the wheels and see what's broken.

Definitely just the axles if it's what you describe. Engine will rev and start fine but will not move the car because the axle(s) snapped. Shouldn't be more than $150 per side, depending on which side the axle snapped on.
