Parking Lurches?
Parking Lurches?
I have a 2001 CL. I've noticed this for quite a while, but now that I'm constantly parking my car downhill on a steep driveway I'm wondering if this will be a problem.
When I put my car in park, my car always lurches forward a couple inches. Even when I step on the brake, then emergency brake it, then put the car in park... same thing.
Is this lurching action bad for my tranny or anything?
Your
appreciated.

Here's what I do when hill parking...
Before shutting it down, shift to neutral while applying the brakes, apply e-brake, release brake peddle, car will move (it's ok, it's in neutral) then the e-brake will catch. When e-brake catches, simply slide her into park. She won't move again. Not sure if it makes a difference but with such a "allegedly" weak tranny, I'm not taking any chances.

the lunge is the parking pawl engaging.

the parking gear teeth are about 1.5" apart from each other. the lunge is the pawl engaging into the gear. remember 1.5" of gear is about 1/16th of a tire turn (the lunge)
its ok for yor car to lunge.
