oxygen sensors differences ???

oxygen sensor question

Lately my 2003 Acura has been running rough and i believe the issue is related to the oxygen sensor. I've already replace them before about 4 months ago (both upstream and downstream) but the car is running rough again (stalling, jerking, erratic). Any suggestion on what else can I check for or to do?

My question is:

1. What is the factory or OEM make and model of the oxygen sensors?

2. Is there any difference between Factory/OEM and any other brand (autozone, oreilly, advance auto) Oxygen sensor

Our J series engines are highly sensitive to non-OEM o2 sensors.

I believe the OEM for the CL is Denso.

They can be found here:

Only get OEM for the upstream O2 sensors. Yeah, Denso is the manufacturer I believe. Possibly NGK. You can get just about any old brand for downstream since those sensors are only for detecting emissions but the upstream are pretty picky like thoiboi said.

what do you mean? get it from the dealer or get it from a place like rockauto? Please help me understand. I'm a newbie and assume OEM means you can only get from dealer? if i'm wrong, please educate me.

Only get a Denso for the upstream O2. These cars are particular on that sensor and I've seen many people have issues with other brands. I'm sure you can look up the part number, then buy it from anywhere as long as it's the right part number.

ok.. according to acuraparts. this is the correct part number: https://www.acurapartsnow.com/oem-pa...QtYXV0b21hdGlj

according to rockauto, this is the correct part #: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...0309&jsn=10358

as you can see a big difference price but they have the same part number. Is it safe to go with the rock auto one?

If you go on the Denso website they list the part number as 234 4727. Rock auto matches that.

SUPER THANKS TO EVERYONE. I got the correct DENSO O2 sensor and the car is driving smooth as butter. However the check engine light still comes on. I've reset it a few times but it keeps coming back on. I The code its sending still relates to the o2 sensor. Any ideas.?

FOLLOW UP: I'm happy to report that both my CEL and TCS light finally went off ( It's been 4 days so far). I'll keep you posted if it come back on. Oh yeah... i changed out the upstream O2 sensors with the Denso OEM and that appeared to do the trick. I have not down anything with the downstream sensor just yet because I read on this board, that the downstream sensor is not so sensitive as the upstream. Right now my car is still riding smooth without issue. THANK EVERYONE FOR THEIR INPUT, SUGGESTIONS AND PATIENCE!!

Now its time to tackle my Non-functioning Cruise Control issue.
