Need some advice on these issues
So i'm not sure if the power steering pump is going but it seems to have a small leak, i have changed all of the O-rings but it is losing a little bit fluid over a several months period. Check out the video below and let me know if that hissing noise in the background is truly the pump if you can.
The other issue is the belt, I think it is the serpentine belt. Somehow the belt is falling apart and leaving rubber on the pulley. I have circle the marks on the pulley and the belt. Now my question is what would cause this problem? I know that when I hit about 60mph I hear a little noise in the engine that sounds like the valve sticks or some sort of hesitate happens in the engine bay but i'm not getting any codes. Had several mechanics ride with me and they could barley hear the noise but i knew it was there.
Any help or possibilities would help big time, Moms is driving it and i don't want her to get stuck or gashed by a mechanic in her town behind this.
Whats up Guys, Question, is it possible to just change the crank pulley without doing a timing belt change? Im hearing this noise and i think its just the crank pulley but the shop tried to say i need a whole timing belt change. check out the video

To answer your question in regards to whether you can '...just change the crank pulley without doing a timing belt change?' Yes you can. However, that pulley is not cheap, $159.32, so be sure that is your problem before taking the plunge. You state that the shop wants to do a '...whole timing belt change...'; howevever, you don't state at what mileage interval the belt was changed in post #5.

You may want to start at replacing the Alternator belt tensioner pulley, first. If that does not remedy the noise then move on to the crank pulley or revisiting the timing belt components (timing belt adjuster pulley; TB idler pulley) etc. It all depends on 'what' was replaced, IF it was ever replaced.

OP, like thoiboi states above, it appears the alternator belt tensioner pulley may be 'slowing down', perhaps from a bad bearing, and causing rubber from the outside of the serpentine belt to transfer to the pulley. You can either replace the whole tensioner assembly or just the pulley. Refer to #2 and #3 on the link below.

Sorry about that but i already replaced the other pulleys that were causing the issue with the belts. Now my only questions is abot=ut the noise i'm hearing from the crank pulley area in the video. I had a full timing belt tune up about 30 k ago, timing belt, pulleys (i believe i had 2 bad pulleys) idler tensioner, serp belt or and accessory belt, water pump, , everything. I just did'nt know if the crankshaft pulley could be replaced without doing another timing belt job. Thanks again

Good Luck!
If you are certain that the crankshaft pulley is the issue, you can get an aftermarket equivalent from Dorman for almost 2/3rds less $ than the OEM one on the link above. If that does not silence that 'noise', you may want to pull the Timing belt covers to see if something is amiss with those components even though they were changed 30K ago.
