My CL/S fixed itself...almost
Backed the car out of her spot, into D5 and away I went. About 50 feet later I heard and felt a little 'ka-clunk' and the instrument cluster went Christmas tree. D5 was flashing, malfunction indicator and the VSA system indicator lit up steady and the VSA activation indicator was flashing too.
I stopped and stared at the light show for a minute or two in shock and horror. When I slowly pulled ahead what got my attention next was the car felt like the park brake was partially engaged. Took a little more pedal than usual but not too much. Lastly, I couldn't feel the transmission shifting. Can't say what gear she was in but it kinda felt like one gear was good for all speeds as the RPM's were where they always were. Now that was way strange. As I only had a few miles to go and the appointment was crucial, I carefully pressed on, light show and all.
Made it to where I needed to be and when I got back in the car and started her up the only light that came on was the malfunction light. Into D5 and slowly pulled out of the parking lot and no resistance in the gas pedal at all. Out onto the street and the transmission was back in fine form as well.
The rest of the way home the car drove just the same as it has for the last 6 years.
Off to the dealer Monday and I won't say shit, at first anyway, other than: "Hey, that little light that looks like an engine is on, can you check it out for me please?"
