My 02 CL-S did not have heat so I changed water valve. Now heat is fine but when I turn temperature dial to Max AC , I hear loud clicking noise for about 30 seconds from under dash on passenger side

The noise goes away if
a) I turn the temp dial beyond half way or to full hot
b) Do nothing and wait for 30 seconds when it stops but comes back again with ignition cycling

I checked movement of water valve lever to which actuating cable is attached. It looks fine.
I hope nothing breaks with loud clicking noise.
Any advise?
