Interior Lights

I just bought a 2001 Acura CL and so far I'm replacing all the interior lights because they don't work. I was wondering if the cruise control and audio buttons in the steering wheel are supposed to light up? I also saw someones post about changing the lights for the radio, clock, etc because they are yellow. If I can change them to another color...how or where can I get this done? Thanks.

The cruise control and audio buttons on the steering wheel of my 6-speed do not light up; however, I am not sure if the automatics do. My guess is that they dont. The only cruise control light that illuminates on the dash is the cruise button on the left next to the sunroof switches. Then there's the one that lights above the fuel gauge.

As far as having them changed out to other colors, try and call around to independant shops. And of course, there is the stealership as well.

Does the hazard button, AC letters light up? And isn't the dome light supposed to light up when you open the door?

When the head light switch is turned to its first position (parking lights) all of the
background illuminated lights should come on:

tach;speedo; guages;hazard button;R-L A/C dails R-L A/C switches; At the left, sunroof switches & cruise button on dash. Clock light; Radio dials and tuning control buttons. When the door is opened the dome light should come on if the the switch is set in the middle, then when the door is shut, the dome light should slowly dim out.

The LCD of the A/C should illuminate (for non-Navi cars) when the ignition is turned on as well as all of the normal diagnostic lights that cycle (within the tach;speedo;guage dails) when the ignition is turned on.

That should cover it. BTW, has the car had water damage? There's alot of that goin around lately. If you don't mind me asking.

Be sure to check or have your mechanic check the fuse boxes in the car and under the hood for the presence of blown fuses as well. There is one under the hood, one on the drivers side and one on the passenger side. If the Owner's Manual is present, that will help you perform the checks and what to look for, if you are DIYing.

Good Luck!
