You need the rubber piece around the hole. I found this out on my car. But it's strange though cause it was off on my old CLS & it didn't make any noise.

Hmm, not sure what your hearing then. The intake should be louder. You sure your clamps are tight? Nothing is was left off? The K&N filter is a tight fit, but will fit. You have the airbox lid on all the way?

You will get this based on the length of your intake so if it start to leak and suck air earier at a point where the length and resonance are most pronounced then you get that sound.

I get the same thing when I convert my CAI into a SRI since the piping is cut earlier then what a normal SRI would have been, it just happens to be that length where it creates this very loud humming sound.

Well if you have an icebox and you have humming that usually means that you are sucking in air from somewhere else in the box probably somewhere closer to the TB in order to make that sound. its usually aroundn the bend area in the piping or in your case where the box meets up with the tubing.

Otherwise if everything is sealed up properly and you still get that noise then you can be annoyed, I find that as a driver it doesn't bother me as much but passengers tend to say "What is that" or "thats getting annoying".

If the 2 tabs are not secured on the airbox lid then it's not on right. Get it to fit right & the sound should go away. The box lid will fit. You need to play with it, put it in at an angle. The K&N filter is the correct part & fits, but the rubber surround is a tight fit. Once on correctly for a while it will give & be easier to take out & put back in.

Both of my tabs closest to the battery are broken off, so the air lid isn't closed all the way. My solution: 2-3 zip ties all the way around the airbox. I still get a slight hum because it's not completly secured down, but it's much better than w/o the zip ties. Just try not to break those tabs off, it's pretty easy to do I'm sure.

w/o the resonator there will always be more noise. The function of the resonator is to reduce or eliminate that sound, that's why acura put it there.

Tell me something if you remove the vacuum lines from the tubing does it still make this noise?

My car hums pretty damn loud with the airbox-mod. My dad was listening to it, and told me to pop the hood. He then secured the box in place with his hands. Basically as if it were tightened down much more firmly. The humming went to almost nothing..I've been meaning to tighten it with some screws, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Depending on which airbox you have (stock vs Comptech) not sure, the bolt size is 5x28, but you could probably go with 5x30 and a washer if the bolt doesn't go through further as a result of the extra 2mm.

i recently took off the resonator and got the hummimg sound. thought it was a leak but it wasn't. the resonator is there for a reason. i put it back on and no more hum. imo, the res. is not worth taking off because you can't feel any difference in perfomance. plus the humming is just to damn annoying.

resonator removed + k&n = same hp gains as aem/CT. for $35-$50 for k&n v.s ~$250 for an aftermarket cai.

if u think about it, after resonator removal, there is a large enclosed area where the resonator was at. so that enclosed area probably contributes to the sound like an echo in a canyon.

so i was thinking of running a tube from the large hole to the front bumper.

i believe they are talking about the resonator that comes with the ct airbox. that is what i was refering to. i have the ct icebox and removed the resonator that came with it.....really not that big a difference. in fact i felt zero difference aside from the annoying humming.
