Idle Air Control Valve

i'm new to working on my acura, it is a daily driver with no mods.

i've done some searches here, and i think my idle air control valve is either bad or dirty.

i tried to remove the throttle body by removing the 2 12mm nuts and 2 12mm bolts, but it doesn't want to come loose from the intake. I am doing something wrong with this?

i don't have access to the two screw that hold the IAC valve to the throttle body.

is there any way to remove the IAC valve to perform the cleaning??

thanks
tony

You remove the TB to clean the IAC. If your sure all bolts are removed it's likely just stuck. Put a towel over the TB & whack it a few times with a hammer or rubber mallet. This should break it loose. You may want to replace the TB gasket. It may come off in pieces when the TB is removed.

alright, i got my tb gasket and i went out this morning with the rubber mallet, and wham. nothing. the tb is still frozen to the intake.

am i missing something? there are 2 nuts and 2 bolts, right??

when i hit the top with the mallet, there is zero movement in the tb.

any ideas? i would really prefer to not have to take this to dealer!!

thanks

Do it harder. Just make sure it's cushioned as to not damage it. As long as everything is disconnected, the linkage, the intake tube, the electrical connectors, & the coolant lines along with the 2 bolts & 2 nuts it should come off. Try whacking it around the TB from the sides & the top.
