Homelink may be broken... any ideas?

I use the homelink everyday at home and at work... noticed the other day that it stopped working, and the red lights no longer come on. Figuring that these things may have an MTBF (mean time before failure), has anyone else experienced this or replaced it before?

Rolling codes? I've never actually used my homelink but I looked into it to use at a friend's apartment garage and if the opener uses rolling/changing codes it will work for a while then stop working. Check that if you haven't.

Pics of that black S5? Pretty much my wishful thinking/economy-turns-around car for when the CL falls apart.

no the unit itself is broken it looks like. When you press one of the buttons the red light should blink but it doesn't. Luckily I looked this up and you can find used ones that go for around 50 bucks. Not too bad.
