Help! 01 cl sputtering- dying!

So friday, my car was fine running normal and all, I got home, and was about to leave 5 min later, i go to start the car it doesnt start. I get it to start then it idles low and tries to die, finally it starts ideling fine, and normal.. No check engine light or anything. Yesterday I go to start it it was just shaking and idle rough but was normal. Today I start it its fine, but light pops on havent had chance to check it yet. But when I drive it it jerks and sputters while driving like its loosing power. Has anyone had any similar problems? Any suggestions or ideas BEFORE I take it to a shop thats gonna over charge me? Any help would be appriciated.

Sounds like a possible misfire, but go to AutoZone or similar and have the codes read for free. That will tell you exactly what the issue is.

It depends on what is causing it. Could be bad gas, bad spark plugs, or a bad coil pack. Either way, get the code read and we can help you further.
