This is a very interesting and baffling problem for my 01' CL-S. My passenger side HID lamp went out. Concurrently, my high beams are both on when I turn on the headlights (even though I haven't switched on the high beams) but at a lower intensity than normal. When I turn the high beam switch on, the passenger high beam goes dim and the driver's side gets brighter. I can't seem to rationally figure out where the problem might be, especially why one high beam dims and the other gets brighter when i hit the switch.

HID inverter on the passenger side?... then why would it affect the high beams at all - especially the driver's side

Headlight on the passenger side?... again why the high beam problem

Any ideas?

 

Update... when i dissconnected the passenger side "high beam", the driver's side started working normally. The passenger side lightbulb looks normal though.
