Headlight Inverter Unit $715.00!!

Just brought my 2003 CL to the dealer, the left headlight was out. These guys charged me $715.00 to replace an Inverter unit only, the bulb was fine. Anyone feel that this is too much money? Oh, they also took the time to wash and vacuum my car at their $110.00 per hour labor rate.....nice!!!

Should have searched here & ordered the part online & replaced it yourself. Or at least got the part cheaper & gave it to them. Sorry dude, you get jacked at a dealer unless you know what's wrong & how to fix it.

i cant fathom how many people pay these kinds of prices for basic repair work at the dealer....at least the number is only going down with the widespread use of the internet now..

You have to be careful with used stuff... I beleive that the CL ballast is different from the TL ballast/ignitor...

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...t=black+market

New, I think the CL ballast is $314 or so from some of the online oem parts places (see the official info thread sticky for more info).

If my ballast goes, I'm going to call around to the local junkyards first... (hmm... I should call to see if they have a CL with a good chrome grille).

If you give dealers the online price printout....most of them will match the price! It is the labor that rapes you! Greeny, you looking for a Chrome Grill Surround (01'-02')? I will have one in a few weeks........its yours man!

Im having the same problem

I just went to the dealer today for my 02 CL, because my pasanger head light would Turn on for a second then flicker out. I brought it to them and they said it could be my inverter that would be a 700 fix. I called B.S. and said I would try and fix it my self.

But does anyone know if the flickering light means its the inverter that out?

Also if I just disconnect the battery will that get me past the 25,000 volts cover thats blocking the light?

Thanks any info would be great.

i thought mine was expensive enough($697). i had exactly the same problem as yours. inverter problem. and my fxxxING Hi-tech bumper to bumper United Auto Care warranty won't cover it. i didn't know they will put the wash & vaccum time in the labor hour? true? bastard.
