Friend had his EGR valve go bad
My buddy has an 01 CLS, 70K miles on it. We left for St. Louis (2.5 hr drive) and stopped for a bite to eat. When we tried to start the car it wouldn't stay running and was missing really badly. After about 5 minutes of holding the RPMs around 2000 we finally were able to get back on the road and it seemed to run fine. Got to a dealership down there and let it sit for about 30 minutes and the same thing happened. We went directly to the Acura dealer and they said it was the EGR valve. They replaced it to the tune of $350 bucks... what a fkg ripoff. I told my buddy it was probably a $100 part that we could've replaced ourselves.
In the end, we went to the BMW dealership down the road and test drove a couple cars.
07 BMW Z4 M Roadster: Very quick, but engine was loud and not very smooth. Felt like I was sitting on the floorboard and struggling to see over the hood. I have an S2000 and this car was faster, but not nearly as smooth.
07 335 I Auto: Also very quick, but very smooth. Very little turbo lag. For such a smooth car it was very tight in the corners, I was surprised. Definately a car I would enjoy driving.
07 M6 Coupe SMG: Unfortunately, I did not get to drive this one, but rather sat in the token back seat but OMG, this car is incredible. That throaty V10 produced constant power and I was surprised at how well the SMG tranny performed since I had heard such bad reviews on it. Salesman was telling me that the 7 speed SMG in the M6 was much more refined than the ones in the smaller cars. This car was so smooth, and so tight. The SMG transmission blipped the throttle everytime he would downshift and put the RPMs right where they were supposed to be. It really sounded like a manual transmission and not a tiptronic like I expected....which is what it should since it is actually a manual transmission with an automatic clutch. Anyway, my buddy is seriously considering buying one of these...I hope he does, I'd love to drive it.

i had the EGR valve problem on my 95 4runner. i've seen the part.. its pretty small, it's round and about 3 inches in diameter. i paid $2XX because there was a lot of water where it wasn't supposed to be. i had to fix it to get it to pass smog.
but i think yall got ripped off by the stealership.
