Did all 2001 Acura CL-S come with HID's or was that an option that the original owner had to choose when they bought the car? And if not can someone provide me with a place that has legal OEM HID kits
they are not an option every car had them
also its very to make a stock non hid housing legal, because it has nothing to do with the bubls its the way the light reflects in the housing
hope that helps

Yea that helps but my lights seem so dim if they are HID's...cars from the the early 90's look like they have brighter lights than me sometimes....What type of HID bulbs do the 01 CL-S take?

There are plenty of companies that make "brighter" bulbs. Brighter being a subjective term.
The higher kelvin temperature, the less output you have. So while an 8000k bulb may have a blue tint to it, a stock 4300k bulb will outperform it in sheer output.
And there are very few good companies out there that make bulbs. Phillips and Osram are used in OEM applications. Alot of the bulbs I see coming out of China (where 99% of the aftermarket makers have theirs made) have defects. When the alignment of the bulb is off, the beam pattern suffers.

Like today on my way home from work I see a 2008-2009 Lexus IS250 and its lights a super bright and overshadow the lights of two cars infront of it and my lights look like any other light on the road except for the ones on the Lexus
Thats because the Lexus has projectors.
My projectors:

And yes, I checked out the Phillips site and they do offer 5000k HID bulbs in both D2R and D2S (projectors). Im running Phillips 85122+ bulbs rated at 4300k.

^^Custom built, any non Oem light on the CL is custom built
and I find that when your bulbs get older they dont look as bright !! so even if you bought the same 4300k bulbs that I assume are in there now they will probably look brighter

Thats true, as they age they color shift.
They will start off at a lower then advertised color rating then warm up to advertised. They spend most of their life there, then the color temp starts to rise again and they turn blue.
Its not uncommon to see 4300k bulbs look more like 5000k bulbs towards the end of their life.

My one last question before I buy some bulbs... I saw this http://www.kbcarstuff.com/Philips_D2...ug_p/d2con.htm ....Has anybody used them or is it even a good option to do so i could use a d2s bulb rather than a d2r
Look in the passenger side wheel well for the filter. The drain plug is at the rear of the pan. Its a 17mm bolt. Dont over tighten, the pan is aluminum and Ive seen them strip. Use a new crush washer too.
