Cruise Control Acting Up

Hey Guys,

Listen I have owned this car for about a month and today I decided to try the cruise control for the firdt time and it doesn't work.

The lights all come on and I can set the speed. Only problem is it doesn't hold the speed ... it keeps slowing down and downshifts the tranny. It downshifts into 4 and shortly after that into 3'rd !! at that point it's revving at 4K RPM

This transmission was just changed in december and I have a feeling it may have something to do with that since the previous owner said it worked until then. Perhaps just a coincidence ???

What are your thoughts ??

Well for you curious minds out there that may be wondering what the problem is ... apparently the plastic cable catch on the throttle body side of the CC is cracked and as such the cable is undone at that end.

I have been searching for this part for a while now with no success, now I know why ... it doesn't sell seperately and I have to get a whole new throttle body !

Have any of you guys had this problem and had a solution/fix to the broken plastic cruise control without having to spend 300$ ?

No, it's actually the round cable catch on the throttle body, the part that turns when you get on the gas.

Oh, I think you might have to get the whole throttle body then. Or try to rig it to work.

I'm shopping around for a used TB at the moment and I may have got one. I posted here hoping someone might have had this problem and managed to fix the cable wheel and keep the CC cable hooked.
I was thinking of cutting a large metal washer (size of the TB cable wheel) and glue it there somehow ... We'll see when I get there.... If I succeed in fixing the broken TB I will post my fix.

I'll try and get a pic on here soon.

TB assembly is 3-400$ if I recall ... it's expensive.

I almost picked one up on ebay last week, but it ended up going for 180$.
