Comptech Flywheels Breaking Crank Position Sensor

I am posting this for my friend with an 03 CL 6 speed, he has I/H/E/P/S and comptech lightweight flywheel/clutch...hes doesnt drive all that much because he has a daily driver but after about 800 miles on his clutch/flywheel, it started breaking the magnet in the crankshaft position sensor...it only breaks it if he gets on it, he is on his third one...is there an explanation for this? he does have the UR pulley set, and ive heard the flywheel, pulley combo isnt good, is this the reason he is breaking sensors? He thinks its because the flywheel might not be torqued down to spec but im not sure, any suggestions?

The pulley seems to be the cause. However it's not been proven. Test it! Have your friend put the stock pullies back on & then the new sensor & see how it goes.

I had my comptech flywheel on for nearly 30k miles. 10k with supercharge, and another 20k with turbo and a few thou na. I had no problems whatsoever. The ur pully seems to aggravate the flywheel, I wouldn't use the aftermarket pulley with the lightweight flywheel.

My crank sensor just blew out today! I was going home from work and this civic pulls up next to me at a stop. We both floor it to get ahead before the line merges, I was in second gear when I looked to see how far behind he was when I hit my rev limiter. When I switched to third the engine started choking at 2,000 rpm and my check engine light came on and so I had to pull over. Luckily my homie's shop was 3 blocks away. So he checks it turns out to be the sensor and tells me it could of been my Flywheel that fucked it. The sensor is $120 and it will be here monday morning, so no car for the weekend!

The one in the tranny is like $80-$90. Either try a dealer or go to oemacuraparts.com

Ok Im having the same problem, but its not with an aftermarket pulley or flywheel. My cranks sensor is giving me codes and the car cuts out at 2000 rpm. Is this the crank sensor at the crank pulley/timing belt pulley, or the one on the tranny.

I hope to god its not the one by the cranks pulley, that thing is 500 bucks.

Also what could be the cause for this to happen.

I can't help you with your issue, but don't worry if you have to replace the crank pulley, aftermarket aluminum is ~$175 and you can always pick up a used OEM one in the BM for like $30.

Your timing is jacked up, I had the same problem when my timing belt skipped a tooth.

Well it wasnt my timing, or my flywheel or a broken magnet in the sensor

Here is my thread in the TL forums youll see what it was:
