i just had my car serviced few weeks ago and then got the wheel bearing replaced
last weekend and now the check engine light is on. so after searching the threads here and getting it scanned from my mechanic, i got the P1457 code. I've tightened the gas cap and got the check engine light cleared but it came up again next day.
so i went to the dealer and i got an estimate of $800 for scanning and fixing the problem.

car sevice: $100
wheel bearing replacement: $300
fixing check engine light : $800
another dent on passenger side: priceless

after getting over the being so lucky feeling, i'm considering my options. seeking suggestions on:
how much should it cost me if get the light fixed from a mechanic not the acura dealer ?
how early i need to fix this problem and any other ways to do so ?
how it actually effects the car like gas mileage etc ?
