Center consule compartment keeps popping up

Annoying little problem with my newly aquired 03 cl-s. The little compartment/armrest in the middle console keeps popping up all the time, sometimes just by going over a bump. It is not the whole thing, just the top armrest part will swing back esposing that shallow storage area. Anyone else have this problem or can anyone offer a simple fix? I really don't feel like sealing it down for good, but I will if I have to. Thanks guys

There was a TSB on that. Doubt you'd get Acura to honor that now though. You can order a new arm rest, or try to bend the tab on it so it locks. Or wrap a piece of black tape around the tab to give it some thickness to stay in the hole.

Bending the tab back worked for me too, just dont bend it too hard or you might break it, it's plastic...

YOU DON'T NEED TO ORDER A NEW ARMREST.

Open the armrest and look underneath for a plastic clip held in place with a screw.

1) Try tightening the screw and see if that fixes it.
2) Order a new clasp, part # 83406-S0K-A01 (it's around $10)

I didn't know your could buy the clasp. When my 02 had it fixed they replaced the arm rest.

Good to know!

There's three screws on the bottom of the lid. Tighten those. That's what did it for mine. I agree, it's uber annoying.
