Car takes a few tries to start in the morning...
I just got my CL and have a warranty so I'll be taking it in to the dealership. I was just curious if anyone had this problem before. Basically, in the morning, I have to crank the car 2 or 3 times before it seems to "catch" and actually fire up. It SOUNDS just fine like the battery and starter are strong. It just doesn't fire until a few tries.
While driving, it is fine, there is no sputtering or anything. Subsequent starts throughout the day are usually fine as well usually starting on the first crank. If I had to venture a guess I would say some sort of fuel pressure problem? Perhaps it loses pressure overnight and takes a few cranks to build pressure? Is it harder to get a spark when the engine is cold? I thought there was no "tune up" needed for almost 100k miles when it came to plugs and wires.
I would appreciate it if anyone could let me know if they have experienced this before and what the problem was for them. I don't want to get some sort of "could not duplicate" answer from the service department. I'm not imagining it.

I always do that in the morning. You need to give the fuel pump a change to charge the fuel system. See if that makes a difference.

Damn, do these cars just have the crappiest fuel pumps on the planet or something?? I was in the bottom quarter of my gas tank. I filled up last night. this morning, it cranked up just fine! How stupid! So is there any way to boost the voltage to the pump to compensate or perhaps replace the pump altogether with a decent aftermarket version that does not suffer from this problem? Or, like the transmission, is it just a bad design?
