car seems like it loses exceleration around 70 mph

I have a 2001 acura cl type s,when I am driving home from work at 70mph and around 100 degree weather with the cruise on it dropes around 5 mph then takes off back to the 70 mile mark,I thought it was the cruise but when I took it off it did the same thing.Today it was much worse it dropped to aroung 60 with cruise off and thought maybe it was going to die this time.It will do it for maybe 5 minutes then will straighten out for the rest of the trip home (30 miles each way to work),I have aroung 220000 miles on it automatic and just had the transmission and timing belt replaced.I have a check engine light on that is the knock sensor but it has been on for awhile now,I was wondering if any of you acura experts have ever had these problems,Ive seen shuttering at exceleration on here but none that cover what is going on with mine

Assuming your temp gauge isn't high, you might as well take care of the CEL first.

You should recheck your timing marks just incase it's a little off and causing the knock sensor cel. It appears your ecm is retarding the timing to prevent premature detonation and thus preserving the motor. That might explain the lost of power.

I believe there are holds on the timing belt cover for checking the timing marks. Just remove the plugs.
