Brake light indicator

Anyone had any problem with the interior brake light indicator coming on while driving? The emergency brake is off but the light comes on and goes off while driving sometimes. It's not a huge deal, just one of those little annoying things. Thanks in advance.

That usually indicates there is something wrong with the brake system-low fluid or such. Check it out.

The "BRAKE" light indicates low brake fluid if it comes on when your e-brake isn't engaged. Add fluid.

Isn't there the red blake light for the e-brake and then also the "brake light" light? Wouldn't this indicate a bulb being bad or possible loose connection? I am guessing entirely, but I think there are two different lights.

I'm fairly new to the car but I believe there is only one light. It's the same light that goes on when I actually do set my e-brake.

There is the "brake" light and the "brake lamp" light. The brake lamp light would indicate the light bulb is bad. The brake light itself would indicate the e-brake is pulled. Have you checked to make sure it is sitting all the way down, and nothing is stuck?

I pull up my e-brake on occassion just to see the light come on while driving and it doesn't have to be pulled up too far. Maybe your passenger is doing it?

The light on my car comes on, too, randomly. Brakes are fine. There's adequate fluid in the reservior. Brake lamps (in the tail lights) are fine.

Touching the brake pedal extinguishes it until the next random visit from the poltergeist.

I attribute it to another instance of crappy Acura engineering and manufacturing. --MikeT

the brake light also comes on for the abs system and the pressure differential switch in the proportioning valve, if there is a problem such as a leak or something when you hit the brakes it makes it move to one side and makes the light come on. i would take it to a brake shop and have them inspect everything including the master cylinder, abs system and the proportioning valve.

mine does the same thing

I know it's like the sensor under the hood it gets knocked around when you either brake hard hit a bump etc. just go under the hood and make sure it is positioned right in the resevoir

this is a common problem in honda/acura vehicles. When the weather is cooler (say 55 degrees or cooler) and the car is cold, the break fluid will reduce in volume due to the low temp, and is also thicker. this trips the break fluid sensor and causes the break lamp to come on until the car warms up. If it stays on all the time. it could be
1) break fluid level indicator (check fluid level and wires)
2) bulbs and bulb sockets
3)break pedal switch

Mine seems to only come on when I nail the throttle. If I put my foot in more than halfway the red "BRAKE" light comes on, and when I ease off it goes away........any ideas? I just got my car back from the body shop after being in an accident and it didn't do this before......

I would take it back to the body shop, doesn't sounds normal, nor have I seen this. This should be due to the handbrake as you have the 6speed, and I've never seen this. Only saw it when I'd lift the handle or my passenger would to mess with me.

sounds like you may have a problem with the fluid level sensor... it may seem ok just by looking at it, but may have a short. it also could have something to do with your ABS motor... when that has a problem, either the BRAKE or ABS light might come on... look for any bare wires that might be grounding out...
