When you were a kid, or maybe even now, did you ever flick the springy doorstop just to hear it make that "Boingy" noise?

Well My 01 type S apparently wanted to play also. I walked out in the garage the other night and heard a noise from the rear of the car. The car had been sitting there off at least half an hour. The noise sounds like one of those door stop springs and occurs every couple of minutes. I didn't stick around long enough to see how long it lasted because i couldn't track down the noise.

Realistically, it almost sounds like it could be a compressor refilling some reservoir but i couldn't imagine what it would be.

Anybody experience the same noise or have an idea why it would be doing that?

 

It sounds like the fuel pump making that noise. It's normal. Mine makes a noise like that.

 

Why would it do that? Is it trying to pressurize the line or something?
