Bad to gut-out Cat???

Bad to gut-out Cat???
-99 Acura CL 2.3 4cyl-
I gutted out my cat recently due to a diagnostic, curtiousy of Autozone. The diagnose gave a ball park guess of either a faulty converter, o2 sensors, or A/F ratio concern. Im not to sure about the A/F ratio, but I replaced the o2 sensors. The CPU was erased, the check engine lamp still comes on. Will having no guts in the cat cause problems? Thank You.
