another transmission thread :P

I got a 2003 CL-S (5 speed auto) and I noticed that when I start up the car, regardless or not if I let it run for a little before I hit into reverse, when I back out, throw it into drive, I get some weird brief buzzing noise when I start going. From what I believe, it sounds like it does it when it shifts from 1st to 2nd, then again maybe from 2nd to 3rd (when I put it in D4)

Obviously this would sound like a problem, but the thing is that when I hit a stop light, go back to 1st gear, it doesn't make that noise at all, ever again, until I turn the car off. It only makes that noise like I described above, only one time after I turn on the car, shift into drive, etc.

I mean, I haven't really noticed any performance issues with the transmission, so I'm wondering if this is just a cosmetic thing or what.

By the way I looked through the transmission recall subforum, and it looks like only the 01 and 02 trannys were a part of the recall. Is this true, or was it for all 01-03 CL's?

I have an 03 cls. The buzzying is the ABS unit doing self checks. I also have the buzz. Dealer says it the self check. It is very loud compared to other cars. My mom had an 02 TL and it did the same thing but no where near as loud.

More than anything it was certain VIN numbers. Some 03 are included

My 2001 CL does the same thing. Completely normal, by the way does anyone know if a 2003 tranny will fit a 2001 CL? Mine took a big poopie and the cheapest tranny I could find was on ebay through a transmission company for a 2003 CL. It comes with a 90 day warranty so I just to make sure before I spend money that the 03 trans will fit a 2001 CL motor... any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Make sure you match a type s engine to a type s tranny and a premium engine to a premium tranny.

i have a TL-S tranny on my CL-S
