been trying to get a problem sorted for a few weeks now. I have an 01 Type S, and when I pulled it out of storage this spring and my dash ! and VSA light were on. None of my old scanners would read the code so I ended up having to purchase a Launch Scanner (actually bought 2 scanners, first was defective… if your reading this and thinking about a launch scanner, if you purchase one on Amazon, Lauches North American customer service can’t help you… you’ll have to deal with china. If you like Launch scanners, purchase from an authorized NA dealer so you can get the customer support). Just scanned the code and it is reading ABS fault 97-01 Sub throttle Motor Failure. Is this code referring to the ABS module? Something else?
I noticed this as well, but didn’t know what to make of it. The only other thing is, if you go through the manual procedure of counting the flashing ABS light on the dash to read the codes, it’s 9 fast and then 7 slow, signifying code 97 (might be 9 slow and then 7 fast… can’t remember if the first digit is supposed to be fast or vice versa)… either way ABS code 97.
I’m on my 4th scanner trying to fix this problem. I really don’t know what to do, but I don’t think a different scanner is going produce a different code reading given the manual reading is giving me the same code as my current scanner.
I cant figure out what part the Sub throttle motor failure would be referring to…The ABS pump? This seems really unlikely to me, but I can’t think of any other component in the abs system that would be a better candidate. Pretty stumped here and I’m loosing the summer. Appreciate you trying to help though.
