So I have an issue that the Acura dealership can even locate. I went out of town for 2 weeks and when I came back the car didnt start but the lights and everything came on. Took it to the dealership and they replaced the battery and the car still didnt start. Then miraculoulsy the car started one day. My friend said to take off the auto starter since that may be the issue which I did but the car still tries to start - makes the noises as though its about to start but it wont turn over. The weird thing is that sometimes the car starts and other days it wont. Does anyone have an explanation for this? What needs to be fixed????!!

check your main relay or the fuel pump relay. located under the driver dash in like a gray box.

My car did this last week .. It cranks like its gonna start and does not start.. I tried to start it 3 x and nuttin , let the car sit for 5 min then it started right up.. I thought it might have been the fuel pump/filter clogged?
From your description seems like you get some power but not enough to turn over the engine. While you turn egnition, do all the dashboard light disapear and relays rattle? If yes and you already changed battery it might be loose main ground or positive line @ starter, oxidated terminals @ that locations or bad solenoid @ starter.
Yeah, all the lights turn on, it basically sounds and looks like it is going to start but it doesnt it doesnt turn over. One place said it may be the fuel pump relay, but does that explain why it starts one day and not the other?? I'd hate to have them change it then it still not turn over, but then again it may narrow down the issue...
Celynka - Im in Chicago, do you know a good shop to take the car to to have it checked out?

relays are soldered on. some crack over time. that would be my first bet.

The thing is that PGM FI realay is responsible for initial pump priming and locking pump running after engine starts. Thats it! With bad relay engine will be cranking normally but have intermittent starting problems. I cleaned that damn thing in my acura legend recently - no need to replace stupid 70 bucks relay tat contains two small relays inside. Fine sand paper will do it and 20 minutes of spare time. As of Chicagoland mechanic, sorry but I fix everything myself and do not know anyone I could recommendOriginally Posted by ml6588
