2001 Acura CL Type S Change Timing Belt or NO?

Hi, newbie here.

My 2001 Acura CL S has 134k miles on it currently and I don't know if I should change the timing belt or let it keep running? The car drives excellent no issues, but hearing all the transmission problems people here talk about makes me nervous to drop hundreds on the timing belt and then the transmission dies. Do you guy's experience any issues before your tranny goes out? Like shaking or shifting issues? My car shifts and drives like new no hesitation.

What do you guys think?

well, we dont know, since we cant see the car and we dont know the service history.

the best thing you can do is find out about your car.
find the service history.
find out if the timing belt has been changed.
find out if the tranny has been serviced.

we just dont know the vehicles history...

if the timing belt hasnt been changed, I'd do that.
a snapped timing belt can cause catastrophic damage to your engine

I am the second owner. Bought it at 90k no paper of transmission getting replaced or service from carmax. I have done all the maintenance on it. Regular oil change no abuse. I did transmission flush about 4 months ago.

change the belt if you got the car at 90K service was due at 105K. that belt is 14 years old and is way past due even under newer guidelines

original was 105K 7 years
Acura dealer told me that you can go 10 years /120K...

I changed my belt in 2013 at 118K

like justnspace said, if it snaps you are totally hosed, CL-S engines are not exactly widely available and those that are available will be high mileage ones as evidenced here.

Your typical Acura dealer will charge about 1K for the job...

Do you like your CL-S? Yes?
Yes, change your timing belt.
Yes, if and when the tranny goes out, put in an Accord tranny.
