I have a 2002 cls with roughly 217k miles, yesterday was driving on the freeway like normal at 80mph and out of no where my warning lighto came on, vsa, and check engine light. When I got off the freeway at a red light, I noticed that my car was not moving when let off the gas. Gas to Rev it to 2k rpm so gear would ingage. Turned her off later that day for 5 minutes and turned it back on and it was fine. Took it to the auto store and they told me I had a lot of codes like if I had a power surge. The car was fine for the day, then the following day It was fine for a while until it occurred again. Yet this time I had to Rev it to 3.5 rpm and the gears were slipping. Until engaged it made a big clunk. I know I have to change the transmission, but wanted to know if it was something else like a power surge or something like that affecting it. Motor is fine, just the trannie. Apologies for my long story

 

transmission sounds like it toast!

 

Mechanic said it was burned transmission oil and faulty sensors. Which personally I don't think so, got told might be the tsm

 

when was the last time the fluid was changed? the fluid ages very fast in these cars. I typically do a drain and fill every 15K
