OEM Navi Swap / Build Thread!

The Project

So I've always been interested in the Navi swap, but never been interested in spending 500+ dollars on everything needed to complete it. I had been stalking ebay since getting my CL for cheap Navi parts, or a complete swap for pretty cheap. Finally found it. Over the course of the month I'm going to be getting the rest of everything needed for the swap. Here's what I have so far:

Acura TL Navi Screen, Navi Drive, Navi Disk, AND GPS Antenna

(total from ebay: 130 dollars, literally the cheapest I've ever seen for everything in working condition)

The only thing "wrong" with it, is the unit is locked, but I've found a bunch of threads on how to unlock it.

Acura TL Navi A/C controls:

(total from ebay: 40 dollars, with wiring harness)

Complete wiring harnesses/pig tails

(total from ebay: 20 dollars, all stereo, navi, etc. harnesses)

Total on project so far: 190 dollars

Items Needed:

Acura TL/CL Navigation Screen/Gauge Bezel

currently working on that. Trying to find one for around 50-60 bucks, so I can put the project at 250 dollars total.

Updates to follow!

As another non-navi member I understand why you want to do this swap.
I currently rock out with my tomtom on the windshield

I thought about getting a navi equipped double din pioneer headunit. It has superior gps software/graphics. Nice radio too. However members on here complain that the positioning is too low to safely look at consistently while getting directions and driving.
Got me thinking oem navi swap might not be such a bad idea after all...

So with that, good luck and keep us posted.

Nice pick up, I like you spend years watching ebay before buying certain parts just waiting for that one good deal. Can't wait to see it all hooked up.

Gotta hold out for the good deal, seeing as how "complete" kits are 499.99, buy it now for 700.00.

Trying to get the navi bezel as we speak. Everything else was delivered today.

After about 4 hours of work it's DONE! (pretty much)

It was a bit of a struggle using the honda odyssey electrical trouble shooting guide instead of the acura CL/TL one, but it worked out great. The only thing that I'm missing right now is the connect the illumination wire for the navi (makes the buttons light up). It'd take me less than 3 minutes to do, but I just got really excited/lazy it was done.

Also, got the code in under 5 minutes from the acura help line. Everyone around the forums seemed to have such trouble with this? Talking about needing to "buy" a code, or take it in, but the first one they gave me on the phone plugged in and worked great! I'm really happy with the install

(Disregard smudges on screen/dirty car/surface scratches on the bezel, I'm gonna take care of all that when the weather is nicer)

It works!

That was my temporary badge, but I'm not a contractor I work in the Headquarters building down in Cape Canaveral. Plus, theres a bunch of serial numbers and what not on the other half of the badge and the back, so it doesn't matter too much that you can see my face and the date. haha.

But yea, I work in the Office of Chief Counsel down there. Glad you guys like the navi!
