Is it dull, or does it just have swirl marks? I'm sure a nice buff would bring the shine back no?

Just finished changing my oil. I thought oil only came out when you unscrewed the drain plug, so when i undid the oil filter, i learned that oil comes out of that too, so i ended up getting an oil rain shower straight on my face

yup haha. The filter doesn't have to be extremely tight does it? I don't have the special Honda Filter wrench so i had to resort to a normal wrench and a rag....

? I just hand tighten it. Run a light coating of oil over the seal (I also prime the filter by filling it with oil) and tighten until it wont go anymore.

A seized filter is not fun to remove.

Worse than putting oil on the seal I'm guessing.

Might make your next oil change a bit of a pain. Did you at least change the crush washer?

and and oil shower on face

Its not bad per se, but lubricating it provides a better seal once you tighten it down.

lol, defintley did that my first oil change as well.

As for sealing the filter the shop I used to work in used vasoline rather than oil. I can't remember exactly why but apperently it created a better seal.

Money. Less clear = less cost. even if they save only $5 per car on it (I'm sure it's more), it adds up when you're pumping out hundreds of thousands of the things every year.

I dont think more clear is the answer. If you wetsand it you will remove alot of the orange peel. But when you are producing such a large number of cars per day theres no way they can pull each car to the side and wetsand it.

Alot of cars have orange peel. You'd be surprised how bad Ferrari paint is

honda's orange peel is not bad at all. its actually fine as far as oem paint goes. Even Rolls Royce have that. that amount of work required to remove orange peel is too much for any company.
if u remove all the orange peel, every single defect will show in paint. orange peel helps hide a lot of minor imperfections.

plus one of teh reason why factorys dont take off orange peel is because hand sanding is never perfect specially when it comes down to taking off mm off of a mm of the coat. trying to remove all the orange peel will leave a lot of uneven sanding spots (like places where u might have taken off too much clear)

personally i'd like to have oem amount of orange peel on my car. if it gets a dent, i can fix it and blend it in with the orange peel. if my car didnt have any orange peel, it'll be extremely hard to pdr it.

here is a murcielago i worked on a few days ago. even this car had quite a bit of orange peel

two small dents
